This is a project for an Airbnb at a historic estate in Pompano Beach to inspire guests to connect with the land during their stay in the tropics. We transformed the understory of the existing, mature mango and avocado trees into a productive food forest system with support species and giant tropical herbs like banana and papaya. We hung orchids in the trees and planted herb gardens. Perhaps most exciting to me was the integration of an on-site composting program for guests in each unit to participate in during their stay, along with educational experiences to tell the story of our place.
