Our team is transforming the MODS backyard Science Park into a regenerative living system for our community to engage with and learn from. In Phase I of the installation, we installed an "Edible Edge" of tropical fruit trees suited for our bioregion and a "Soil Building Station" complete with local mulch and support species that will act as living plant food for the newly planted trees. Next, we will plant into the understory beneath the fruit trees with pollinator friendly native plants, medicinal herbs, and useful tropical plants. Phase II will tie the system together with a "Food Forest Meander" beneath live oaks and native trees.
